Meine ersten Kinderreime illustrated by Constanza Droop is a wonderful collection of rhymes and finger plays for children. Contained in this collection are 22 rhymes including “Hoppe, hoppe, Reiter”, “Zehn kleine Zappelmänner” and “Schlaf, Kindchen, schlaf”.
The delightful rhymes are simple and rhythmical, encouraging children to follow along and repeat. The rhymes encompass many every day things and once learnt can be used in all sorts of situations, from sitting in a doctor’s office to playing in the park on a rainy day. Simple rhymes are a great way to incorporate German language (or any other second language) into daily activities.
For each rhyme there is a brightly coloured illustration full of things to see and find. These pictures provide a wonderful opportunity to point out things from the rhyme and to practice new words.
The recommended age for this book is from 2 years onwards, however even younger children can benefit from listening to the rhymes and looking for things in the pictures. I would rate this book suitable from 18 months through to 4 or 5 years.Title: Meine ersten Kinderreime Author: Compiled and published by Ravensburger with illustrations by Constanza Droop Pages: 36 Ages: Ravensburger recommends from 24 months – 4 years; I would say from 18 months ~ the pictures are wonderful to look at
