A couple of posts ago, in 10 good things, I mentioned making lists for exciting things. This is one of those exciting things, and at 20 weeks along I can hardly believe that this is the half way point!

At the end of February or the beginning of March, while the ground around us will just be starting to stir under what will likely still be a blanket of snow, and hopefully not in the middle of  late winter snowstorm, we’ll welcome Mausi’s little sibling into the busy hum of our lives! It was the big, middle-of-the-road ultrasound yesterday, and yes, we did find out whether this little bean is a boy or a girl. But I suspect that some of the family reading this blog may want to wait and find out in March, so I don’t think I’ll be announcing it just yet. The beginning of March really isn’t that far away…

Mausi doesn’t really understand just yet, although, if you ask her where the baby is, she’ll happily tell you “Mama’s tummy”. We’ve got a little preparation work to do, and I’m looking forward to the two of us reading some children’s books aimed at introducing a new sibling. Any book recommendations are greatly appreciated!

So that’s the first of the exciting things hapening over here…the next bit of news I think I’ll share in a few days time. We’re still getting things sorted out.

How exciting!!! Such a beautiful time. We had a home birth so we had that to prepare our son for. We had my eldest watch videos of births that my Midwife gave me specifically made for little ones. We talked about how Mommy might scream or seem very different than normal and that it would pass as soon as baby was born. We played with the different sounds and screams he might hear. He was here with us when we had his brother at home. He was a little stressed about it but it happened so fast the stress quickly passed. I can’t remember any specific books but we read whatever my midwife had. I’m sure API would have some recommendations. Enjoy this beautiful time! Before long sibling will be here and they will be fighting amongst the love and hugs and you’ll look back on this time as pure and silent bliss! (I hate to be one of those parents that say that. lol)

I imagine a homebirth would definitely take some preparation for an older sibling! We aren’t planning to have this babe at home, but have opted for a hospital birth with a midwife delivering. I will check out API, thanks! I have some books in mind already, and I’ll likely talk about them a bit in the months to come.
