This past Saturday we took Mausi to the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair for the first time. What fun we had seeing all the animals! There were goats with coats, sheep (and mama liked seeing all the fleece piled up for judging…), plenty of cows, some big bulls,  a pig or two, an alpaca, chickens, and some noisy horses. I say noisy horses as some were snorting a bit, and Mausi was not impressed at all! If you ask her, she’ll tell you about the noisy horses, and her answer to them is to put out her hand, palm facing away, and say in a very stern 2 year-old voice “stop, horses!”. Although, at the time she wanted just to leave them in peace in and see some “less-noisy” animals.

Fleece piled up to be judged (or already judged?)

In varying shades of redish-brown, all the Highland cattle looked this relaxed as they “lounged” waiting for their turn to be shown.

Maybe next year Mausi will be big enough (and patient enough) to see the ‘Super Dogs‘ show, and perhaps we’ll seek out the fancy chickens and other animals we didn’t see this time. I’m sure there will always be something new to see.

Sounds like a good time. Love the Highland Cattle, and M’s sweater; it’s adorable!

Thanks! This sweater was actually knit when I was pregnant with her…started it before we knew whether our first babe was a boy or girl! She first wore it at about 6 weeks or so, and I continue to try and stuff her into it. Not sure it’ll work too much longer though!
